love

I went to lunch today, and while waiting for my takeout at one of my favorite local spots, I got some great advice from one of the waitresses there.  See - this is truly a local spot - each person knows me by name, knows what I drink and most times can finish my order.  And I know about them - and that is how I like it.

So while talking with Celeste about life and love, something finally clicked.  See for the past 6 months, I have been trying to get a great guy who also eats there a lot to ask me out.  I mean I have gone all out with the flirting.  And he is great - but not great for me.  And why?  Because Celeste is right - if he doesn't realize by the second time what a great catch you are - then move on.  Because there is someone out there that will realize what a great catch I am.  And I think it finally clicked.

Do I want to be with someone who doesn't put me first in their life?  Do I want to be with someone that doesn't want to ask me out?  And the answer is no.  I want someone who acts towards me like I act towards those that I like.  Does that make sense?

And with that....that is where I am with love.  Waiting for the man who feels about me the way I feel about him.

A Little Bit Stronger

So I was in the car today, with the windows down and the radio up enjoying the Spring weather when this song came on and stopped me in my tracks.  (See previous posts about music and the role it plays in my life!)  We have all been there, in one way shape or form - and it relates to many points of life.  But each day - I know I get a little bit stronger -

Woke up late today and I still feel the sting of the pain
But I brushed my teeth anyway
I got dressed through the mess and put a smile on my face
I got a little bit stronger

Riding in the car to work and I'm trying to ignore the hurt
So I turned on the radio, stupid song made me think of you
I listened to it for minute but I changed it
I'm getting a little bit stronger, just a little bit stronger

And I'm done hoping that we could work it out
I'm done with how it feels, spinning my wheels
Letting you drag my heart around
And, oh, I'm done thinking that you could ever change

I know my heart will never be the same
But I'm telling myself I'll be okay
Even on my weakest days
I get a little bit stronger

Doesn't happen overnight but you turn around
And a month's gone by and you realize you haven't cried
I'm not giving you a hour or a second or another minute longer
I'm busy getting stronger

And I'm done hoping that we can work it out
I'm done with how it feels, spinning my wheels
Letting you drag my heart around
And, oh, I'm done thinking, that you could ever change

I know my heart will never be the same
But I'm telling myself I'll be okay
Even on my weakest days, I get a little bit stronger
I get a little bit stronger

Getting along without you, baby
I'm better off without you, baby
How does it feel without me, baby?
I'm getting stronger without you, baby

And I'm done hoping we could work it out
I'm done with how it feels, spinning my wheels
Letting you drag my heart around
And, oh, I'm done thinking that you could ever change

I know my heart will never be the same
But I'm telling myself I'll be okay
Even on my weakest days
I get a little bit stronger

I get a little bit stronger
Just a little bit stronger
A little bit, a little bit, a little bit stronger
I get a little bit stronger

The Sounds of Life

I am sitting here watching tv, and I have slight ocd (well I like to call it an obsession with multi-tasking), thus I am also listening to music while the commercials are on.  Because I have to always be doing something!  For those that know me, it is pretty easy to know that music plays a huge role in my life.  I can get in my car, drive in circles with the convertible top down, the music up and sign at the top of my lungs and instantly change any mood I may be in.

And one of the things I love most about Spring and Summer is going to concerts.  I enjoy all types of live music - but my favorite is outdoor venues during the spring and summer.

So a few concerts I am really looking forward to seeing this spring  summer.....

photo compliments of a random website...i'm not really good at this credit thing.  Hummm...someone help!

Garth is performing at the Wynn in Vegas and I can not wait to see this show.  I have only seen Garth live in concert once and it was AMAZING!!!  And I have heard this concert is incredible.  Plus I have the opportunity to meet Trisha Yearwood last year and she was so great - and she also performs with him during a portion of the show.

Next up - Kenny Chesney.  For those that know me best, yes I have seen him every year for about the last 10 years.  Yes, I have seen him at least twice a year each of those years.  Okay, Okay...so it is really over 4 a year typically.  But beside the point.  If you have never seen a Kenny Chesney show, you have no clue what you are missing!!  I have sen him in Vegas, Detroit, Boston, Philly, Chicago, Charlotte, WS, Columbia, Greenville, Greensboro, Raleigh and about everywhere in between!

And then...Keith Urban.  He is an amazing musician, puts on a great concert and wow is he easy on the eyes!  I mean - those arms....see I'm a girl who loves some amazing arms!!!

And.... these guys are great!  She is absolutely gorgeous!  Now, they are quirky - but a really great show.  Can't wait for some Sugarland.

Now some smaller acts.  I love Gary Allan and Pat Green.  And a great artist named Patrick Davis who plays at a very small venues.

After this it looks like I only see Country shows - but I see all kinds of shows.  All kinds.  I mean here is a small list of some of the shows I have seen other than country acts:  NKOTB, Backstreet Boys, Celine Dion, Brittney Spears, Milli Vinilli (I know - I know!!), Bobby Brown, Boys II Men, Aerosmith, Bruce Springsteen.... I keep all concert ticket stubs so I am going to have to go look and add to this list!!

So - here is to the great spring and summer nights spent living your life through someone else's music.  Stay tuned for some of my favorite songs!

What I know for sure..

I can't say where this originally came from, as it was one of those forward to 1,845 people for good luck type emails.  But, it is the only one I have ever saved....for years!  My Mother sent it to me about 5 years ago, and it is one of the emails that  I always save.  So here goes.  (Now if I was truly my Mother, I would comment after every one with this amazing witty sentence about how it does or does not apply to me....but I'll save that for another day and reason to repost!)  A creed for women and one of the only things I know for sure.

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
enough money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own,
even if she never wants to or needs to...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
something perfect to wear if the employer,
or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
a youth she's content to leave behind....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
a past juicy enough that she's looking forward to
retelling it in her old age....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .....
a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
one friend who always makes her laugh... and one who lets her cry...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems,
and a recipe for a meal,
that will make her guests feel honored...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
a feeling of control over her destiny...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to fall in love without losing herself..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to quit a job,
break up with a lover,
and confront a friend without;
ruining the friendship...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
when to try harder... and WHEN TO WALK AWAY...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that she can't change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that her childhood may not have been perfect...but it's over...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
what she would and wouldn't do for love or more...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to live alone... even if she doesn't like it...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW.. .
whom she can trust,
whom she can't,
and why she shouldn't take it personally...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
where to go...
be it to her best friend's kitchen table..
or a charming Inn in the woods...
when her soul needs soothing...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
What she can and can't accomplish in a day...
a month...and a year...

Dreaming of....

A few things I am dreaming of tonight (and testing my abilities to post pictures!)...

Wishing I was here...in this room (compliments of Coastal Living...can I post pictures from other sites here...disclaimer...I know no better if not!!!) and looking out to the view below... instead of freezing in my sweats right now!

The beginning of it all...

I’m very new to blogs (ie this is my first post EVER and I only recently found the love of reading blogs) and recently decided that this would finally be the way for me to keep a journal.  See I am a lover of all paper products – and I buy so many blank books and sharpies that I could give the local Office Depot a run for their money – but I never use them!  There is something about messing up a perfectly good blank canvas and making a mistake (insert your psycho babble here about what this says about my life).  And seeing that I LOVE all tech gadgets and photos and magazines and websites…I thought…what better way to keep my personal journal than online.  So this is for me (and that is probably one of the very few selfish statements I make as if you are reading this for long, you will realize my time is not mine.  I never say no and do things because I think they are what others want).  But here goes – my personal journal of life, love (and the lack there of), passions, pleasures and my personal bucket list.
